About the Artist

Artist Statement
My creative work consists of paintings, photography and event planning. The two dimensional visual art generally ranges from medium to large-scale works. Technically, my paintings are very cartoon-like and light-hearted. Along with nature, fairytales provide the inspiration and content for my narratives that I create in my art. Photography has also been a way for me to preserve memories that I can reflect upon and use images as stories later. As an event planner, the skills of organization, workflow, and integration of all elements will be useful as I create this capstone. I create a variety of paintings on recycled items, and the focus is on personal memories. The themes are childhood nostalgia, nature, and the safe havens these images have created for me and my family. Along with images of the ocean, characters from Disney are all included in my work. When it comes to painting I usually have a subject or idea in mind and I just start painting, as I continue the painting the story begins to develop.
